As for women, an abundant amount of LPL is produced in their breasts, hips and thighs and men produce LPL in the abdomen area. This explains why men readily gain and store obese fat in the middle, while women generally gain weight in the lower areas.

When I go to the gym I like to get a workout that's fast, challenging and burns as much fat as possible while building muscle. This fat burning workout is guaranteed to do just that. If you don't want to go to a gym, you can do this circuit at home. All you need is a set of dumbbells, jumprope, resistance band, stablility ball and a step.

1. Start a food journal to see the pattern the way you eat – First thing you should do is to clean up your diet. From my experience, there’s no better way to find about it. I always recommend my clients to do this. It takes some time to create habit of journaling but it’s worth it.

I want you to record the food you eat for next 7 days. After everynight, I want you to look through the journal and start seeing the things you can avoid (like chips, cola’s, cake pasteries etc).

By the end of the week, you’ll notice that you have eliminated most of your junk food.

2. Start cutting down excess calories - You must have heard the statement “Calore is just calorie, Just cut down your calories you’ll lose weight”.

Now this statement is half truth. Calories gained form potato chips will never be equal to calories gained from turkey. There are many things going beyond the calorie cycle.
Though this statement has some truth in it. Cutting down calories will help you drop weight. But in the end the quality of food you eat will determine what kind of energy output you have. We know that regular exercise will help us to improve our mood, relieve stress, increase energy levels, help to maintain or lose weight and prevent disease just to name a few. The benefits are so important that the government has gone as far as setting guidelines to how much exercise individuals should be doing.

The government recommends that people exercise five times per week for 30 minutes at a moderate intensity for general health; however, studies have proven that vigorous activity 3-5 times a week for at least 20 minutes is what you need to attain maximum health benefits and increase longevity.

In today's busy world where people are juggling work life, home life and a social life, there is little time left for any kind of exercise regardless of it being moderate or vigorous. Or is this lack of time just an EXCUSE to be lazy? After all 20-30 minutes really isn't that long. The one positive thing about this disease is the fact that it is possible to get rid off. You need not die of it, should you take the right precautions. Some of you may think, oh I'm just a bit overweight, nothings going to happen to me. I won't die. You are highly mistaken. The first step towards ridding your self of this potentially life taking disease is to recognize that you are over weight and need help. Overweight leads to obesity and very often obesity leads to life threatening diseases. Most heart attacks are caused due to obesity. Diabetes is another growing disease and obesity plays a major part in it. So find out from your doctor about what your ideal weight should be, if your even 2 pounds more than that, I suggest you start shedding those extra pounds.

By performing your daily activities everyday, you shed some calories. However, it takes the burning of an additional 3500 calories over the amount of calories you shed everyday, for you to start losing weight. Sounds like you have a long day cut out for you. It is the simplest of things that can make the greatest of changes. Your diet and exercise could be the key towards ensuring you have a good, long, healthy life.

Learn to keep a watch over your calorie consumption per day. Check the calories for whatever you eat during a day. Many people have decided - for one reason or another - to shun the weights room. For many women, the fear of adding muscle 'bulk' is one of the biggest deterrants. (pun intended!)

However, the truth is that building big muscles rarely happens by accident. In other words, those people that do "get big" are intentionally consuming additional calories and applying intensive weight training techniques. Contrary to popular belief, women who lift weights will not turn into Ms Olympia overnight!

When a client comes to me wanting to lose weight, what they really desire is to take up less space - fitting into a smaller size of jeans for example. And while there's a good chance that you will lose scale weight, would you be satisfied if you gained muscle, remained at your current bodyweight and yet ended up a few sizes smaller?

Muscle weights heavier and takes up less room than body fat! Five pounds of fat takes up much more space (volume) than five pounds of muscle. For example, someone who weighs 150 pounds (68kgs) with 19% body fat will look much smaller than someone who weights 150 pounds and has 35% body fat. Even though they weigh the same, their body composition is different. And because muscle is more dense than fat, the person with less fat and more muscle will look and be, smaller!

Muscle is metabolically active!

As well as the beneficial cosmetic changes, studies have shown that for every pound of muscle you add to your body, you'll burn up to 50 calories more per day! So, if you were to add an extra 10 pounds of muscle, you'd burn up to 500 cals more per day, or an extra pound of fat every 7 to 10 days, without making any other changes!

Therein lies a very important point. Muscle is metabolically active. Fat is not. Even at rest, muscle tissue requires energy - enough to significantly enhance your metabolism and the rate at which your body burns calories from day to day.

On the flip side of the coin, if you lost weight while following a diet without including some form of resistance training, two things would most likely occur.

First, at least half the weight you would lose would be muscle. And this causes number two! - A slowed metabolism and the inability to burn body fat as efficiently. This results in progress grinding to a halt, and often leads to gaining all the weight back. (This also happens to be the most common scenario with commercial weight loss programmes.) Regardless of whether you're a man or a woman, building muscle is VERY beneficial.

The benefits of resistance training and building muscle include:

* Preventing the loss of lean body mass that occurs through dieting and/or aging
* Easier to maintain a healthy bodyweight long term
* Improves your body composition (fat to muscle ratio)
* The fastest way to reshape your body
* Strengthens bones and connective tissue along with the muscles
* Helps keep you strong and active as you get older

It's a Walk in the Park

So how many steps do you take in a day? No idea like most of us, that's about right, but if you want to drop a few pounds you may want to read on. Walking can help any fat loss program and aid your general health by raising your metabolic rate.

You don't need any special equipment apart from decent footwear and as an optional extra you might wish to purchase a pedometer to check you performance. There simple ways to vastly increase your steps, when at the super market don't try to actually drive in the doors park at the furthest point away from them. When you are on the telephone walk about the room, when you take the children to the playground instead of sitting and watching them, walk round the perimeter to keep an eye on them. During your lunch break from work use ten minutes to go for a brisk walk. If you think about it there are dozens of ways to increase your activity level. You will soon be able to get your daily steps up to 10,000 in a day and you will feel the benefit.

When you go for your walk try regular pace changes, take your MP3 player with a mix of fast and slower tracks, get a good regular pace for a couple of songs then up the tempo for a couple then reduce your speed and so on, do this for the duration of your walk.
